Meet Marissa & Jared

Thirteen years ago, Jared and I met the old-fashioned way… at a party. Although neither of us believed in it at the time, it was love at first sight. We had our first date 3 days later and have been together practically every day since then. Sometimes, the right thing is just easy and that is how things were for us until we tried to get pregnant.
After 4 years, 3 rounds of IVF, a high risk pregnancy and a complicated and dangerous delivery, Sidney was born. A true miracle baby! The immense joy we both felt when he finally entered the world was quickly tempered by the amount of blood I was losing. I was wheeled into the operating room for an emergency hysterectomy, and woke up in the ICU the following day. Even though it was the middle of Covid and heavy restrictions were in place, the nurses allowed Jared and Sidney into the ICU so that I could hold my new baby. It was then that the severity of the situation sunk in. Despite feeling as if we had finally overcome our years-long battle with infertility, we were quickly shocked back to reality. Even though I was holding the child we worked so hard for, we were still on the infertility journey. Only this time with the added loss of having no chance to ever carry my own future children.
Sidney is the absolute light of our lives, and so incredibly loved by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. The first grandchild on both sides, there is no shortage of hugs and kisses or visits from our family who all live nearby. Sidney will make the most amazing big brother and we hope to be able to give him the gift of a sibling. Anyone lucky enough to have a sibling, or to have multiple kids, will know just how special and important this relationship is. Over the years, both Jared and myself have been fortunate enough to be able to lean on our own siblings, both in challenging times and times of celebration. The gift of being there for one another is something we want so badly for Sidney.
Sidney recently turned two and we are so grateful to have surrogacy as an option to complete our family. We cannot wait to meet the incredible woman (and her family!) who will help us complete our family. We are so excited to meet you!
